How to make herringbone placemats

Create with paint! Projects from habitat by Resene

Get creative with herringbone, a lesson in geometry.

Herringbone colours

Herringbone is a look that will never go out of trend. We applied the pattern to create these stylish placemats, perfect for outdoor entertaining.

You will need: Wooden placemats/plywood sheets cut to size, masking tape, testpot brushes, Resene Aquaclear, roller and tray, Resene testpots in your choice of colours: we used Resene Half Athens Grey, Resene Adrenalin, Resene Clockwork Orange, Resene Juicy and Resene Touche.

Top tip: Vary your colour combinations to suit your dining décor. Think deep reds and jewel colours for winter and summery yellows and blues for the warmer months.
