Back in January 2021, our first volunteer couple started patrolling the Beach Haven and Birkdale area. Paying for their own petrol, using their own cars and hi vis vests. Our group has grown since then and new volunteers have joined, operational costs have multiplied too. At this point we need help from our Community to keep growing in numbers thus offering a better area coverage and reducing opportunities for crime.

BHBCW is a North Shore local initiative to form and run community patrols manned by volunteers. Our objective is to cooperate with authorities to prevent crime and to promote safety in our neighborhood.

Patrols on hold 10 September 2023

Dear Community.

Regrettably, we must inform you that the Community Patrol activities will be temporarily suspended due to a shortage of volunteers. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are currently facing a lack of volunteers to effectively carry out these patrols.

We are truly overwhelmed by the generous donations that have been contributed to cover the cost of fuel for our community initiatives. Your support has been heartwarming, and we are deeply grateful for your willingness to contribute. However, we are pleased to inform you that due to the temporary suspension of patrols, our fuel expenses have ceased.

Given the circumstances, we want to be transparent and responsible with the donations we've received. We believe it is appropriate to discontinue further donations for the time being, as the surplus collected will be preserved for when the patrols are reinstated. Rest assured, your previous contributions will be put to good use once the patrols resume.

We encourage anyone interested in volunteering for future patrols or for events like "Safe Plates" to come forward. Your dedication will play a crucial role in enhancing the safety and wellbeing of our neighborhood.

We will keep you updated on any developments regarding the patrols and the donation status. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.
