The challenge has been laid down: Porirua vs Hutt City - the race is on!

Kia ora Porirua, we want to get those Covid-19 vaccination numbers up to keep our community safe.

In the spirit of healthy competition we've laid down a challenge to Hutt City to see which city can get to 90% fully vaccinated first, so let's do this!

All about the Race to Vax 90

Porirua Mayor Anita Baker has laid down the challenge to Hutt City Mayor Campbell Barry to see who can reach 90% first!

Mayor Baker wants to help encourage people to get their jabs, with incentives, sponsorship and prizes right through November as we hit targets.

It's all about keeping our city safe, so let's get to it.

Hutt City has jumped on board, and the race is on! Who's going to get to 90% first? #RaceToVax90



How to get involved

From 1 to 28 November 2021;

  • get vaccinated
  • add a pic or video to your Instagram story, tiktok or Facebook with proof (doesn’t have to be your face, it can be a pic of your card or place of vaccination)
  • tag or nominate your favourite local Porirua community group, church, choir, grassroots sports club, or school use the hashtag #jabjabwin5024 . Each time that group is tagged they will get $20.

The 3 groups with the highest nominations or tags in each category by the 28 November will win $5000 each! Categories are:

  • school
  • sports club
  • community group / church

To enter...

  • You MUST use the hashtag #jabjabwin5024 so we can track them.
  • You must be a resident of the wider Porirua region to be eligible.
  • If you don’t have social media you will be able to let the vaccinator/provider know which group they nominate and we will follow up.
