To help Luna get what she needs on her journey!
Manawatu / Whanganui
Luna was born with a condition called Amniotic Band Syndrome which has affected both her hands and feet.
Amniotic band syndrome is a rare condition caused by strands of the amniotic sac that separate and entangle digits, limbs or other parts of the fetus. This constriction can cause a variety of problems depending on where strands are located and how tightly they are wrapped.
Unfortunately for Luna, her fingers on both hands are fused together as well as the amputation of her big toe and deformation of other toes.
Luna requires several surgeries in Wellington in attempt to separate her fingers, hopefully giving her more movement and the ability to use her hands. She will also require on going therapy and support equipment to help her recover from surgeries and learn to function with her condition.
Luna is currently 9 months old and is due to have her first surgery sometime this year, but has been delayed due to Coronavirus.
Any funds raised will help us with travel costs from Palmerston North to Wellington where she will meet with a specialist, as well as accommodation for myself and my partner, any equipment or therapy that Luna requires and allows us to have the time off work needed to take Luna to appointments and surgeries.
I am the mother of Luna who has ABS (amniotic band syndrome)
Money will be spend on food, accommodation, travel and also if she needs extra things like special equipment to help her learn to use her hands again after surgery.
