Hamilton has just approved and is rolling out City Council Rubbish, Recycling, Food Scraps and Glass Bins. I think Palmerston North should follow suit and implement this service too. Having this service will provide cleaner, healthier neighborhoods that we are proud to live and gather in. Here is why:

• Cost effective - Reducing costs and not having to pay different companies every week or month.
• Eco-friendly and Sustainable - cutting the cost of rubbish bags being used because some of us double up using a black bag then the council bag. Having the new bin service will be one off the was to reduce carbon foot print. Decrease in privately owned rubbish trucks therefore only city council rubbish/recycling trucks are on the road and causing less pollution and not adding to the carbon footprint.
• Unnecessary landfill deposits - It will reduce waste being sent to the landfill because with the new rubbish bins provided it will allow the rubbish, recycling and foods scraps to be put in the correct bins, collected and therefore sorting at the rubbish and recycling center will be easier and more effective also reducing carbon foot print.
• Proper re-allocating food scraps, plastics and glass to be sent on to an appropriate place that will actually use and recycle them into another product.

To help prevent global warming and perhaps if the rest of the country jumps on board this train it can provide and even cleaner, greener New Zealand like the world claims us to be. Kia Kaha
