Moxie
Final Logo.png

MOXIE stands for Meaningful
Opportunities X’ing Into
Employment.

MOXIE is a series of projects that provide
meaningful work experience that you could get
involved with! MOXIE has two distinct offerings:

Internal MOXIE
programmes
are led by
Recreate NZ facilitators
and are designed to grow
soft and hard skills for the
workplace.

When the young person expresses interest in pursuing paid
employment, we can provide placement opportunities through
our external MOXIE programmes. We ensure young people
are given the opportunity to showcase their skills over a period
of time, therefore eliminating existing misconceptions around
disability.

Within the education stream at Recreate NZ, our expectation
is that young people develop skills in order to progress through
to other opportunities. Over the coming year we will be
developing an outcomes tool to track the growth of individuals
through MOXIE programmes. This will help ensure achievements
are celebrated and people are moving on to other challenges as
MOXIE skills are accomplished. We love to see trainees continue
development in other areas of their lives, as well as new young
people coming through to give MOXIE opportunities a go.
To cater to the need for mid-week social connections, we
have created Life Skills Social Club. This full day offering is for young people to continue learning through
creative and social means.

If you wish to express interest or want more information, please
get in touch with us at moxie@recreate.org.nz

MOXIE Work Placements

As mentioned in the MOXIE introduction, we are working with employers to create a shared vision of success for young people. This is done through a step-by-step training process, with hands on support from Recreate NZ.

To be eligible for our MOXIE Work Experience, one must have completed a Mid-Week programme at Recreate NZ, either Life Skills or MOXIE focused. The intention is that the trainee will gain paid employment at the end of unpaid training period.

We have seen great success in the past few years and we are very keen to keep growing this exciting and dynamic employment stream. MOXIE training is arranged with employers as opportunities arise. Placements are then matched with appropriate trainees based on interests, skill, location, and shift times. We will do our best to find work for all who are interested, but suggest you continue your own investigations too.

Please note: we cannot guarantee immediate work placements. MOXIE training is arranged with employers as opportunities arise. Placements are then matched with appropriate trainees based on interests, skill, location, and shift times.

If you have completed other Recreate mid-week programmes, please express your interest to Josephine by emailing

moxie@recreate.org.nz.
