Sunday, 21 May 2023 -postponement date is in action!

The Central Challenge

The Central Challenge is an opportunity to have a day out in Central Nelson and enjoy a Rogaine Adventure Race for all ages and stages.

It is a day packed with family fun, spot prizes, stalls, games and activities.

Not your typical cake stalls and jumble sales...

The Central Challenge has been established as a highlight of many people's calendars- bringing families, corporate teams and adventurers of all ages together for a day of excitement and fun.

The Central Challenge is Nelson Central School's major fundraising event.

Who can enter?

The Central Challenge is really for anyone as it comes in two formats:

The 1 hour Family Rogaine:

Set around and near to Nelson Central School, the one hour rogaine involves finding answers to clues in your team.  Any level of ability and age can enter, this is a great activity for families with primary aged children (or even younger).

The 2 Hour Challenge Rogaine:

Set in the town, valleys and hills surrounding Nelson Central School, the two hour challenge rogaine is perfect for older children and teenagers, corporate teams, Spring Challenge teams and hardcore adventurers. How far and fast you go is up to you.

Are you up to the challenge?

What is a Rogaine?

Well, (aside from a hair loss remedy) It's a bit like a treasure hunt really. Teams of 2–5 people choose which checkpoints to visit within a time limit with the intent of maximizing their score. Teamwork, endurance, competition and an appreciation for the natural environment are features of the sport.

  • Participants get a map and questions
  • Each Question has a number which relates to a point on the map.
  • Answers to the questions are revealed at the location marked on the map
  • You need to visit the locations and answer as many questions as possible in the time allowed.
  • Points are taken off for every minute you go over time and for incorrect answers.
  • Some Questions are worth more points, (depending on how difficult they are to reach)
  • The Aim is to find as many answers as you can before time runs out.

"So Amazing!! Best ever family fun."
