We conducted 2 rounds of engagement and had engagement with tangata whenua to make 20- to 30- year plans for Waipū and Parua Bay.
First round of engagement
The first round of engagement for the Waipū and Parua Placemaking Plans was held over a five-week period between March and April 2022. Targeted engagement with tangata whenua was held during the months of June and August 2022. The purpose of the first round of engagement was to speak with and listen to the community, tangata whenua and stakeholders.
Summary of engagement
Feedback from this engagement process has informed the draft key outcomes and actions in the Placemaking Plans. Our team has put together an engagement report that summarises the feedback into key themes for Waipū and Parua Bay.

Tangata whenua engagement
For the development of the Parua Bay and Waipū plans, targeted engagement with tangata whenua was undertaken by staff members in collaboration with two working groups consisting of four hapū members each. The working groups supported the compilation of cultural narratives and coordination of the workshops and meetings with the tangata whenua.

Second round of engagement
During the second round of engagement, we asked the community for their feedback on the Draft Placemaking Plans for Waipū and Parua Bay.
