They just do not have the know how or the … View moreI often hear of hourly rates in gardening. I know of people who boast they only charge $18-$25 per hour. However, I also know through long experience they take 4 to 5 times longer than experienced guys like me and the reliable contractors I work with. They just do not have the know how or the tools, or the fitness level. Then of course there is the plant knowledge and landscaping knowledge guys like me bring to the job.
So you as the customer hope the "quote per hour" blokes will finish the job in a morning....but they are still there a couple of days later. Job not finished, the price for you adding up.
Guys like me quote PER JOB, including everything, such as waste removal. Then there are no surprises.
In my photos of my work you will see a number of "before" and "after" pics. That was THE JOB. How long did it take me? You might be very surprised. I do know my customer was, and he was delighted. We trim trees such as the before and after in the photos, and hedges, plus do soft landscaping. We love our work and it is a great lifestyle. Our passion shows in the great job we do and currently we have 14 great reviews on Trademe.
It is great not to have to waste plants - a whole heap of agapanthus etc we dug out of this garden went as a donation to fill the front garden of a nearby kindergarten. Bet the kids will wonder where all these came from overnight!

Bet the kids will wonder where all these came from overnight!
We then filled the areas with black mulch at our customer's request. Black bark is striking, low maintenance and suppresses weed growth. But it won't keep the weeds back forever.
