Fortunately, many of these types of accidents can be prevented by keeping walking surfaces free of dirt, mold, moss, and other substances that tend to reduce traction, particularly when combined with water.
In a recently completed Devonport job, a beautiful north-facing staircase and pathways had become slippery with dirt and mold and were definitely tricky when wet. Exactly the kind of condition leading to this common injury. The likelihood of slipping has been reduced massively after a couple of hours of careful eco-friendly pressure-washing.
There’s more than one win! Clean surfaces are often more pleasing aesthetically - so, in addition to safety, there’s that as well 😊.
