Just like most people, I’ve had many different challenges in my life.

Kia ora, I’m Vanessa Hills, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Just like most people, I’ve had many different challenges in my life.

Four years ago, I had a fall at home and sustained a significant concussion.

I had enjoyed a long, successful corporate career and an active, social personal life that I loved.

As I struggled and worked hard to recover as fast as possible and get back to full time in the role that I loved so much, I was still not back to full capacity after 2.5 years.

My personal life was by necessity, quiet, hermit-like and empty.

I was unable to do the things I so enjoyed prior to my injury.

I felt rudderless, unfit, frustrated, unfulfilled, trapped and lonely as I dealt with the ongoing consequences of my injury and the impact it had on all facets of my life.

I knew I needed to do something, I needed to re-invent myself.

I needed to re-assess and completely rebuild my life, from health, lifestyle, social engagement as well as professionally.

I needed to find a new path forward that would maximise my recovery and give me back the vital, meaningful life I missed.

So having left the corporate world to focus on my recovery, I decided to study for dual certifications as a health and life coach through the Health Coach Institute, USA.

As part of my study, I used all the learning, tools and techniques for myself, transforming my life.

I found a path with real meaning and purpose, combining my love of helping others personally and professionally, my coaching skills and my new found skills.

When we feel our best; healthy, alive and fulfilled, that’s when we can make a real difference to others in our lives and our world around us. I’m humbled and proud of the amazing changes and growth my clients are making.

Life is so precious and so short.

Move!! Go for a brisk walk of at least 30 minutes 5 days each week. Why?
Regular cardiovascular exercise has the strongest evidence base when it comes to reducing the risk of many diseases.

Breathe........in for 5, hold for 5, out for 5 for 2 mins. Psychological stress is a significant contributing risk factor in up to 90 per cent of all chronic diseases.
Focusing on breathing is one of the easiest and best ways to activate the part of the nervous system that is involved in reducing stress – the parasympathetic nervous system.

Eat well and enjoy! Eat a 'magic plate' every meal (⅓ lean protein, ⅓ complex carbs, 1/3 leafy veges, 1-3 thumbs of healthy fat)
......stop when you feel comfortably satisfied!

Socialise....increase time spent with friends & family even if via VC. Having meaningful relationships is the biggest predictor of happiness and is also linked to health and longevity.
