AMI Road Safety Awards winner...

AMI Invercargill

We are honoured to have been invited to present an award on behalf of the whole AMI team. The recipient of the AMI Community Road Safety Award is RoadSafe Northland, and we were delighted to present the award to Gillian Archer.

RoadSafe Northland is a Northland collective of Road Safety Partners and agencies, under the umbrella of the Northland Road Safety Trust. This charitable trust funds, delivers and supports road safety initiatives in the region on behalf of the Whangārei and Kaipara Districts and the Northland Transportation Alliance, comprising all four Northland councils.

While Northland, like the rest of the country, has a challenging road toll, the incidence of young drivers in fatal and serious crashes has significantly reduced in the last couple of years. Programmes, such as RYDA where nearly 5000 Northland students have participated since inception in 2009, has provided a significant contribution to this reduction.

Gillian of RoadSafe Northland had this to say about the award: “I want to thank Road Safety Education and AMI for the AMI Community Award, for recognising the significant partnership that has allowed this programme to develop and grow in our area. It is timely to acknowledge the many local community partners who have supported this programme over the years. As well as the significant support from local AMI staff and the RYDA team, we have a range of contributors including loan cars provided by Dargaville Ford and Pacific Ford, catering by Rapid Relief Team, support staff from People Potential and Rotary and additional funding from COGS and The Warehouse Dargaville, and of course both Whangārei and Kaipara Councils.

“This award is for all of these partners who have made such a significant Young Driver programme possible.”

Save Lives, #SpeakUp and post a reply – what are you doing to make the roads safe for everyone? We want to hear your inspiring stories.

This year’s theme is Save Lives, #Speakup, and the week coincides with the United Nations Global Road Safety Week. So what does road safety look like to you? #SpeakUp and post a reply below!

This year we’ve lost too many people on our roads. No death on the road is acceptable. Everyone is entitled to safe and healthy mobility. Here at AMI, we’re committed to making our communities safer for everyone. We’ve helped to fund advanced warning signs for rural intersections – so drivers get an early head’s up to slow down – as well as supporting youth training in over 80 schools through Road Safety Education (RSE) , a nationwide organisation helping young people change the way they think about road safety and lay the foundation for safe road use throughout their lives. There has been huge success through RSE’s RYDA programme and in some areas with their Good2GO programme, which is run for students at schools such as Tāmaki College in Auckland.

Road Safety Week encourages us all to take a pledge – what can we as individuals do to improve road safety? Will you avoid all mobile phone use or take more breaks during long road trips? Save Lives, #SpeakUp below and tell us what your pledge is.
Check out the Road Safety Week website for more helpful tips.

Hi Everyone, our Neighbours at Furever homes have some beautiful animals in their care and they need our help to raise funds to care for them.

CHEESE ROLL FUNDRAISER
Leanne and the team at Truckstop Takeaways are making SOUTHLAND CHEESE ROLLS as a fundraiser to help Furever Homes with the sick kittens that are continually coming in. There are currently 40 kittens in foster and a pregnant cat due in very soon! The cheese rolls were a great success last year, this fundraiser helps with medication, wormers, desexing and food for orphaned and abandoned kittens and pups.

Cheese rolls are handy to have in the freezer, kids love them and they go great with soup.
💛 $7 per dozen 💛
💙 Orders & payments by 1st June 💙Made fresh to order on 9th June 💙
💚 To be collected from Truckstop Takeaways between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 9th June💚
❤ To place a cheese roll order or if you have any queries, please contact Anita on 027 776 8681 ❤

🐱🐶 FOOD/TOY DRIVE 🐶🐱
In addition to the yummy cheese rolls, we're putting out a shout out for anyone who may be able to help out with donations of wet or dry kitten food or puppy toys. With the amount of fur babies in care they're running a little low.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a donation, please drop it into AMI Insurance Invercargill at 46 Deveron Street between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

It's summer, and with this amazing Invercargill weather we're away from home enjoying the outdoors and holidaying more than usual, and we have another long weekend coming up soon! What goes on at your house when you're not there and is your home safe and secure???

Morepork is a smart home security system which allows you to monitor your home straight from your smartphone or tablet.

Want to know more? Well here’s how it works:

First you get your Morepork Security Starter kit which includes things like the control panel, three door and window sensors, one image sensor and one video camera. There are plenty of add-ons you can choose from too, like smoke alarms, motion sensors and smart plugs.

Next, once your starter kit has arrived, it’s time to install. No wiring, no drilling – it’s completely DIY. You set it up yourself and place all the sensors in areas you want to monitor.

Once you’re all set up, you can monitor and control the whole system via your phone! Easy as that.

Not convinced yet?

1.Peek in at anytime from anywhere. By being able to monitor everything from your phone, you can get peace of mind that all’s going well at home at any time of the day or night. Doesn’t matter where you are!

2.Who opened the door? With a Morepork door sensor you can get alerts to your phone when you’re not home whenever the door (or window) is opened. So, if you’re not expecting anyone to be home, you can check in to see if it’s an intruder or someone’s just come home early.

4.Ever wonder what your pet is up when you’re not around? Now you can spy on your furry friend whenever, wherever you want with the help of Morepork’s image sensors and indoor video cameras!

AMI is partnering with Morepork to help keep you and your home safe. With any AMI House Insurance policy, get the first 6 months of your 12 month Morepork subscription free. Plus, get a free Morepork Security Starter Kit and smoke alarm worth $628. Pop in and see us at the branch at 46 Deveron St or call us on 03 3788608 (yes this is the Invercargill branch number) and we would be happy to answer any questions or get you set up and on your way to a safe and secure home and peace of mind.

Have a safe and happy summer Neighbours, and may this beautiful weather continue!
